Intensive Care
Having an acutely, or severely ill horse can be very distressing for the owner and can sometines be a diagnostic challenge for the veterinarian. Many of these horses are dehydrated or have ongoing fluid losses (for example the horse with diarrhoea) and require fluid rescusitation and rehydration to maintain their circulation. Tamworth Equine Veterinary Centre has the stable facilities and nursing support that enable us to provide intensive care to our patients. We are able to offer around-the-clock continuous intraveonus fluid therapy and monitoring of critical patients including foals. We are backed by 24 hour access to laboratory support for intensive management of these patients. We welcome referrals from Northern New South Wales, for a range of medical conditions requiring intensive care including colitis, pneumonia, pleuropneumonia and peritonitis.
